McLaren P15 Hypercar to Debut on December 10
McLaren has announced the next car in its Ultimate Series model range will debut on December 10 at 12:01 a.m.
The new hypercar, which is codenamed P15, is described as being the ultimate expression of a road-legal track car. Along with the announcement that it will debut next month, McLaren shared a teaser image of the car showing a portion of the rear tail lights, a rear intake grille, and some other radical aero elements. A previously released teaser for the P15 revealed it will also have a unique triple tip exhaust system.
Rumors point to the P15 receiving an 800 horsepower version of McLaren’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine found in the 720S. More importantly, it will have an extremely lightweight carbon fiber monocoque, active aerodynamics and a stripped out, bare-bones cabin to ensure the purest, rawest driving experience. McLaren claims its a “road-legal track car unlike anything we’ve built before,” so expect it to be decidedly different than the P1 or F1.

The P15 is set to arrive before the highly anticipated BP23 hypercar, which will also be part of the Ultimate Series range. The BP23 was teased back in September when McLaren released images of a 720S-based mule with a central driving position undergoing tests at its Woking HQ. The BP23 won’t arrive until 2019, however – whereas the P15 should be in customer’s hands before that time.
Stay tuned for more information on the McLaren P15 following its debut on December 10.
