Mercedes-AMG E63 S is the Fastest Wagon Around the Nurburgring

1

With a time of 7:45.19, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S is the fastest wagon ever around the Nurburgring.

Wagons are a dying breed thanks to the huge success of crossovers and SUVs, but Mercedes-AMG hasn’t given up on the market just yet. And that’s because the German automaker offers something very few other companies do: a high-performance wagon that not only looks great, but performs like a real sports car.

To prove the point that the E63 S Wagon is more than just high horsepower with extra cargo space, Sport Auto decided to take it out to the Nurburgring. Sport Auto has conducted independent testing at the Nurburgring for over two decades, and piloting the E63 S to the record lap time was Christian Gebhardt.

Powered by a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon produces 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. According to the German automaker, it goes zero-to-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 180 mph.

There’s a possibility the E63 S Wagon could be even faster around the Nurburgring considering this was an independent test, but Sport Auto isn’t exactly an amateur when it comes to testing cars on the Nurburgring. The wagon’s lap time is actually faster than Sport Auto‘s test of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, which ran 7:46.
