Top 10 Commonly Misspelled Car Names: Kia Stringer, Chevroley Camero and More

Diving into what people are searching for on AutoGuide.com and Google, we get some hilarious and interesting results.

Here are some of the funniest incorrect and commonly misspelled car names that people are searching:

Wrong: Kia Stringer | Correct: Kia Stinger

2018 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD

We might be going out on a limb here, but the Kia Stinger (as in what a scorpion has) sounds a lot more appealing and badass than Kia Stringer (like string beans) that sounds more like the lead position for a competitive sewing team.

Wrong: Farrari, Ferlary or Ferarri | Correct: Ferrari

2017-Ferrari-488-GTB

At least Ferlary kind of sounds like Ferrari. My dad actually pronounces it “Fer-la-lee” (it’s how you say it in Chinese), so this misspelling might be due to how people who speak certain languages pronounce it and then try to spell it out phonetically when trying to search for it. A lot of people also double the “R” in the wrong place, a pretty understandable mistake.

Wrong: MacLaren | Correct: McLaren

McLaren is a British supercar company founded by Bruce McLaren, who came from New Zealand. MacLaren is a baby stroller manufacturer also from the U.K. Quite the difference, but I think they should really start thinking about a collaboration where they could make a McLaren MacLaren mid-engine carbon fiber baby stroller with scissor doors.

Wrong: Lemborni Hurricane | Correct: Lamborghini Huracan

This one really made me laugh when I saw it. It sounds like a knock-off version of a terrible kit car mixing Lamborghini and Ferrari design cues that’s sold in China alongside NKIE shoes and ROWLEX watches.

Wrong: Porshe, Porsche Boxer or Porch Boxer | Correct: Porsche Boxster

2016 Porsche 718 Boxster S-15

A Porch Boxer is someone who gets into fights on the landing in front of their house. Funny enough, Boxer isn’t a terrible name for this Porsche. It’s… punchy. Zing! But it’s also strangely appropriate since the Porsche Boxster (and most Porsche sports cars, for that matter) uses a boxer engine configuration with its flat fours and flat sixes.

Wrong: Chevroley Camero | Correct: Chevrolet Camaro

chevrolet camaro

Every time I see “Chevroley Camero,” I laugh because I always see this in the comments section when a) people are trying to make fun of the Camaro, or b) people are generally sort of illiterate. One of our staff members also recently saw a Mustang with the license plate “CAMERO.” Ultimate troll.

Wrong: Infinity | Correct: Infiniti

Infiniti is the luxury arm of Japanese automaker Nissan. Infinity sort of means “forever” and is a symbol basic girls get tattooed on their wrists.

Wrong: Toyota Corrola | Correct: Toyota Corolla

toyota corolla

This one is pretty understandable.

Wrong: Volkswagon | Correct: Volkswagen

This one for some reason makes my eye twitch. I know it’s a wagon when it’s a station wagon and not a station wagen, but COME ON.

Wrong: Mayback | Correct: Maybach

Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet

This one is easy to get wrong because so many people pronounce this super luxury automotive brand incorrectly as “Mayback,” but it’s actually pronounced “My-bock.” Thank Jay-Z for this common mistake.

Wrong: Austin Martin | Correct: Aston Martin

Wrong: Suburu | Correct: Subaru

Wrong: Alfa Romero | Correct: Alfa Romeo
