2018 Toyota 86 Adds GT Trim for North America

According to a recent report, Toyota is finally adding some comfort features to its 86 sports car.

CarsDirect reports the 2018 Toyota 86 GT will head to the U.S., adding heated seats and new leather upholstery for the seats, steering wheel, and parking brake handle. The steering wheel also gains silver contrast stitching and audio controls. Other interior changes include dual-zone climate control, push-button start with proximity entry, and an anti-theft device. In addition, a new 4.2-inch display has been added that displays a g-force meter, a tachometer, torque output, and temperature.

On the outside, changes are much more subtle, with the addition of an “underbody aerodynamic panel,” which is likely a front splitter. There are also LED fog lights nestled in the front bumper as part of the GT trim. There will be two different GT models available, with the standard 86 GT sporting body-colored accents. The GT Black, which is priced the same, adds Raven Black accents to the mirror caps and rear wing supports.

Speaking of pricing, the 2018 Toyota 86 GT starts from $29,280 including destination for the six-speed manual model. Opting for the six-speed automatic will cost $720 additional.

Many of the features being added to the 86 GT trim is similar to what’s already found on the Subaru BRZ Limited, which is actually a bit cheaper with a starting price of $28,465 including destination.
