Watch a Ferrari F1 Car Destroy the Road Atlanta Lap Record
It may be nearly 15-years old, but this Ferrari F2003-GA Formula 1 race car has shattered Road Atlanta’s lap record.
The Ferrari F2003-GA was introduced just before mid-season in 2003, winning seven races before it was replaced by the Ferrari F2004 the following year. Now with Marc Gene behind the wheel, the Ferrari F2003-GA has basically risen from the grave to set a new record.
Gene shared a photo and a video on his official Instagram channel, announcing the 1:01.2 lap record at Road Atlanta. And that is seriously fast, considering the previous lap record was 1:06.242, set by a Peugeot 908 diesel at the 2008 Petit Le Mans.
As an interesting bit of trivia, Gene actually won the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Peugeot prototype.

To put it all into perspective, the current production car lap record at Road Atlanta was set in a 2016 Dodge Viper ACR in late 2015, with the Viper ACR stopping the clock at 1:26.54.
