2019 BMW X5 Reveals a Bit More of its Updated Design

The 2019 BMW X5 is rumored to bow sometime this summer, which means the SUV is undergoing plenty of testing.

Spy photographers have caught the new BMW X5 testing yet again, and this time it’s revealing a bit more of its front and rear ends. The prototype is still wearing a bit of camouflage, but we can tell for the most part that styling changes will be more evolutionary than revolutionary. The major change for the new X5 is its underpinnings, as the SUV will ride on the Cluster Architecture (CLAR) that is lighter, stiffer, and more flexible than the current X5 platform.

Exterior dimensions on the new X5 will be very close to the existing model, although expect some clever tweaks to slightly improve interior space. Under the hood, look for BMW to take advantage of the new platform by offering a plethora of engine choices, ranging from four- to eight-cylinder engines.

Earlier this year, our spy photographers caught the new BMW X5 M testing, which means the high-performance model will likely debut shortly after the standard model. If you’re wondering what to expect from the new X5 M, look no further than the 2018 BMW M5 and its 600 hp 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8.
