2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid Spied Testing

The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid has been spied testing ahead of its anticipated arrival sometime this year.

The SUV is expected to spawn a hybrid model, which will likely utilize a version of Honda’s clever two-motor hybrid system that it currently employs in the Accord Hybrid and the Insight. Instead of using a 2.0-liter or 1.5-liter Atkinson Cycle engine, as it does in those two vehicles, the Pilot Hybrid will likely tap Honda’s 3.5-liter V6 engine. The hybrid powertrain is expected to also appear in a hybridized version of the Honda Odyssey, which will compete directly with the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

Honda’s large SUV will also get a mild makeover for the new model year, receiving a revised front fascia with new LED daytime running lights and new rear fascia with taillights similar to the Accord’s. Our spy photographers anticipate the Pilot’s appearance update will be heavily inspired by the new-for-2018 Honda Odyssey.

The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid should debut sometime late this year before going on sale in early 2019.
