Tesla Model 3 Now Available to Order Without Reservation
Tesla has opened Model 3 electric car orders to anyone and everyone in the United States. Per an email blast from the electric-car maker, Tesla proclaimed, “no reservation is required in the U.S.”
Anyone who builds their own Model 3 will be required to place at least $2,500 down as a deposit. All models are available for configuration, too, including the Model 3 Long Range, Model 3 dual-motor all-wheel-drive, and the Model 3 Performance. The Tesla site still states the Model 3 Short Range, which will allegedly start at $35,000, will arrive in six to nine months.
The automaker’s decision to open up orders in the U.S. comes after a few major events. In the last week of June, Tesla reported it had finally built 5,000 Model 3 electric cars in a single week. Then, last week, reports surfaced showing Tesla requesting money back from suppliers to help the company turn a profit. Some of the supplier contracts go back as far as 2016.

Customers placing an order will see their Model 3 electric car delivered in two to four months.
However, it may be poor news for many buyers. Tesla became the first automaker to pass the threshold for federal electric-car tax credits in the U.S. The generous $7,500 tax credit will now enter a phaseout period through the end of 2019. The full $7,500 credit will be available through December 2018.
