2015 Chevrolet Corvettes Recalled, Sales Halted

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette is the latest to fall under GM‘s recall woes.

According to a stop-sale order sent to dealerships today, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette will have two recalls bringing GM’s total number for the year to 67. Very few of the affected vehicles have been sold to customers and the two recalls will cover issues with airbag and parking brake cables on a total of about 2,800 cars. Neither recall has been made public yet and parts are not available for the airbag repair.

The airbag recall will cover about 2,000 Corvette Stingrays, many of which are still at the American automaker’s plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. According to the stop-sale order, the driver’s side airbag in those cars could separate from the steering wheel in a crash, increasing the potential for injuries. The second recall affects about 800 Corvettes with 700 of them on dealership lots. Those vehicles were “built without one of the rear parking brake cables fully seated and engaged,” according to the automaker. The defect means those cars could violate federal rollaway-vehicle standards.
