Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon Dealer Arrival Begins

Good news midsize pickup fans! GM just announced its latest entries in the segment, the all-new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, are shipping to dealers starting today.

Both of these “right-sized” trucks slot in underneath their respective brands’ full-size models, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 200 horses. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission with the same number of gears.

Stepping up from here, buyers can opt for a gasoline-burning 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 305 hp. But the engine that’s got everyone really amped-up is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel that will join the lineup for the 2016 model year.

Aside from under-hood hardware both models are made from more than 72 percent high-strength steel, which cuts unwanted mass without sacrificing any strength. They can also be equipped with active grille shutters for enhanced aerodynamics and better fuel economy.

In the electronics department the Colorado and Canyon can be had with OnStar, 4G LTE connectivity and onboard Wi-Fi, features the younger generation is sure to love.

Base price for the cheapest Chevy variant is about $21,000 including destination and delivery fees. The entry-level GMC starts about seven-grand more.
