Ferrari 458 to Gain Turbo V8 by Next Summer
Ferrari’s push into forced induction is spooling up quickly as the company draws closer to abandoning naturally aspirated V8 engines altogether.
The company is expected to begin selling a re-engineered version of the 458 Italia with a turbocharged V8 sometime in the summer of 2015, possibly with a new name according to a report by Automotive News. That will be followed by a Spider version of the same car arriving either in late 2015 or early 2016 with a twin-turbo V8 and also possibly a new name.

Ferrari announced its return to turbocharging last year in Geneva where it reveled the new California T, but things won’t stop there. As previously reported here, the company plans to migrate all of its V8-powered sports cars to forced induction while introducing hybrid powertrains to every 12-cylinder model. Last week Ferrari chief Luca Cordero di Montezemolo announced that he will resign from his 20-year post to be replaced by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne. Montezemolo will depart on October 1 and Marchionne is considering increasing the brand’s annual production from the intentional 7,000-unit limit to 10,000 vehicles.
