Lotus Evora to be Discontinued in US Market
There’s more bad news from Lotus.
Following a report that the British automaker may lay off 27 percent of its staff, it is now expected that the Evora will get the axe in the U.S. It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to those that follow the Evora, as the company was able to bring it over to the U.S. due to a 12-month exemption on the federal requirement to implement smart airbags.

Given the current state of affairs at Lotus, it isn’t likely that the company will re-engineer the vehicle to meet the new safety standards in the U.S. Once the remaining inventory of 2014 model year Evoras are sold, Lotus dealers in the U.S. will offer track-only variants of the Elise and Exige in the U.S.
