GM Trademarks ‘Nightfall Edition’ Truck Package
General Motors plans to market a special “Nightfall Edition” pickup truck package that could be revealed as early as next month.
GM filed to trademark the Nightfall Edition name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. In the description for the filing, the company revealed that the package will include “a black exterior, black grille, black five-inch assist steps, 18-inch aluminum wheels, polished exhaust tips, [a] spray-in bedliner, [a] remote start system and automatic climate control.”
The filing did not specify which nameplate the special package will apply to, but GMC plans to unveil a special edition pickup truck during the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. Earlier reports citing dealer sources hinted that GMC is planning something reportedly called the “Midnight Edition,” although the company hasn’t taken steps to trademark that name.
The name could also end up belonging to a Chevrolet pickup. In November, Chevrolet showcased the Colorado “Performance Concept” in Las Vegas at the SEMA Show with two customized versions of the Colorado. Both brands are expected to offer special editions of their new midsize pickup trucks.
