Bentley Developing GT Sports Car Aimed at Aston Martin
Bentley will unveil a concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show set to compete with Aston Martin and Ferrari.
The British automaker will head to Switzerland early next month with a front-engine, two-seater GT sports car in concept form that will likely be powered by a version of Audi’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with around 500 hp. That powerplant was recently introduced in various other Bentley models but expect more power for the dedicated GT sports car, especially to ensure that it has at least a 200-MPH top speed.

While Bentley will campaign that the concept’s main purpose is to gauge interest from consumers, CEO Wolfgang Durheimer said last summer that expansion of the company’s product line will include a GT sports car. The upcoming model will sit beside the Continental GT in the lineup. If the coupe does get the green light, it would give Bentley five distinct models in its portfolio including the upcoming Bentayga SUV. As for production the company is still expanding its factory to accommodate the Bentayga so it’s more likely that the GT will arrive dealerships in 2018 at the earliest.
