XC 90 ‘Excellence’ Has Volvo’s Swedest Interior Ever
Volvo will showcase a four-seat version of its XC90 crossover focused on delivery luxury during the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show next week.
Appropriately, the Geely-owned company chose China to unveil its new high-end trim level. Chauffeur services are especially popular there and subsequently, so are spacious second-row seats. The XC90 Excellence offers its rear seat passengers significantly more legroom than the normal model and the ability to recline. Volvo says this is the most luxurious vehicle it has ever built.
Apart from the ability to lean back, the two second row bucket seats are also ventilated and equipped with a massage feature. The back seat forms a luxury limousine-like space that also includes retractable touch screens, folding tables and cup holders with the ability to chill or heat drinks along with a champagne cooler. The vehicle also includes a set of crystal glassware.
“This is our new flagship car,” said Volvo design boss Thomas Ingenlath. “We have created the ultimate luxury experience of Scandinavian design. Volvo has never launched a car like this before. This is the car that demonstrates what the name Volvo now means.”
Like other vehicles designed with chauffeur service in mind, there is a partition between the first and second rows and footrests in the aft compartment. It also offers a stereo system with up to 20 speakers.
Volvo didn’t announce pricing for its new luxury trim, but it will begin global delivery later this year.
