Lotus Evora 400 Roadster, 4-Eleven in the Works

Lotus sales are up and the brand is planning on bringing new models to market. 

The British company is currently working on bringing out a new crossover and has plans for an Evora 400 Roadster and an even more hardcore version of the recently revealed 3-Eleven (seen above), to be called the 4-Eleven.

“There will be an Evora 400 Roadster, with twin carbon fibre roof panels that stow in the front and weigh just 3kg (6.6 lb) each,” Lotus boss Jean-Marc Gales told Top Gear. Everything else about the car will likely stay the same as the standard Evora 400, which means a mid-mounted 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 will provide 400 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels.

“I also have a plan for a 4-Eleven in two years,” said Gales. While he did not elaborate on this project, the 4-Eleven is most likely an even lighter, quicker version of the 3-Eleven.

Beyond new models, Lotus is also working to update its current stable. “The [2017] Exige will be faster, and have bigger wheels and brakes, even though it has better air-conditioning and infotainment, and lower sills for easier entry,” said Gales. “The Elise will have a restyled front clamshell.” These changes are possible thanks to new cheaper and better manufacturing processes according to Gales.

As for the crossover, Gales says “it will be the size of a Porsche Macan but only 1600kg, and will be the most agile and fastest of that class on a track.”
