2

The 2018 Hyundai Kona will arrive dealerships in March with a starting price of $20,450 including a $950 destination fee in the U.S.

Available in four trim levels, the compact Kona is the Korean automaker’s first subcompact crossover and will compete with cars like the Honda HR-V and Chevrolet Trax. The standard SE and SEL models are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Atkinson engine with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, while the Limited and Ultimate trims feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood producing 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter engine is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, while the turbocharged mill gets a seven-speed EcoShift dual clutch transmission.

To stay competitive in the segment, the Kona comes standard with a seven-inch touchscreen that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability. And despite its compact size, the Kona offers 19.2 cubic feet of rear cargo volume.
