Toyota, Lexus Recall Three Models for Possible Airbag Issue
Toyota is recalling approximately 49,000 vehicles in the U.S. to address a possible issue with their airbags.
The vehicles affected by the recall include the 2016 Toyota Prius, 2016 Lexus RX, and 2015-2016 Lexus NX. According to the Japanese automaker, the vehicles have airbag systems where an open circuit could be created over time. If this happens, the airbag warning light will illuminate warning the owner, and the side and curtain shield airbags and/or front airbags may not deploy. The non-deployment of an airbag could increase the risk of an injury in the event of a crash.

To resolve the issue, Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the serial number of the sensors in all affected vehicles and replace them if necessary, at no cost to the customers. All known owners should be receiving a notification by first-class mail starting in late March 2018.
