3. Busy
This term is pretty obvious. White said busy designs are “a visual frenzy.” He also described them as having “way too much going on.”
“[I] wish there was a big red stop sign in the studio saying ‘enough is enough,’” said White, noting that several Acura and Lexus models on the road today are quite busy. Additionally he said vehicles with a lot going on “tend to be very flash in the pan … They don’t have a lot of longevity.” Accordingly they often need to be redesigned quickly.
With busy designs, “It’s all coming at you at the same volume and you just don’t know what to look at,” said White.
