GM ReviewsView All Reviews

The world’s largest automaker, General Motors is comprised of four brands: Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC. Popular Chevy models include the Malibu and Cruze sedans, Equinox and Traverse crossovers, the Camaro and Corvette sports cars, SUVs like the Tahoe, plus the Volt and numerous trucks like the Silverado. Top selling Buick models include the Enclave, LaCrosse and Regal, while the bulk of Cadillac sales are comprised of the CTS sedan and SRX crossover. The GMC truck brand is best known for the Sierra pickup and Heavy Duty models, while more recently it has had success with crossovers like the Acadia and Terrain. Globally, GM also includes the Opel, Vauxhall and Holden brands, plus joint-ventures in China and the OnStar brand. After reorganization in 2009, General Motors shed the Hummer, Saab, Saturn and Pontiac brands, having eliminated Oldsmobile several years earlier.

GM was founded in 1908 by William C. Durant using the funds generated by purchasing Buick in 1904 and turning it into a success. GMC was acquired in 1909. Forced from the company after a failed takeover of Ford in 1910, he then helped create Chevrolet with Louis Chevrolet in 1911. That venture became so profitable that five years later he bought a majority stake in GM and a year later was back in charge.

2010 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

2010 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
With 505 pushrod ponies the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has more than enough brute force to overwhelm the competition. But with a suspension design out of the dark ages, does it require a driver with a touch of madness or at least a total disinterest in suspension geometry and the laws of physics? Only one...

2009 Buick Lucerne
With subtle looks and a comfortable luxury ride, the Lucerne is perfectly suited to the wants and needs of its core demographic.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro

It may have the looks, but with a V6 engine, good gas mileage and a comfortable ride, the new Camaro is no sports car. And those are it’s good attributes.

2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid
Attempting to minimize the gas guzzling stigma of the Escalade, the Hybrid version of the mammoth SUV might not win any awards from GreenPeace but it does give remarkable fuel-savings in the city. Too bad the interior isn’t up to premium standards.

2009 Chevrolet Impala

2009 Chevrolet Impala
Despite its appearances in NASCAR victory lanes, the Impala is about as average a car as money will buy. And with the new Malibu being so good, the Impala is certainly less appealing.

2009 Chevrolet Aveo5 LT Review
Auto manufacturers know that while profit margins for entry-level vehicles are small, building brand loyalty is huge. The Daewoo-derived Aveo5 hopes to get first-time buyers into a Chevrolet.

2009 GMC SIERRA

2009 GMC SIERRA
Sibling to the popular Chevy Silverado, the Sierra has it’s own look but also gets the new-for-2008 six-speed transmission (on some models). Combined with a few other options it might just be the better bet.

2009 Chevrolet Silverado

2009 Chevrolet Silverado
To keep up with competitors from Ford and Dodge, GM now offers a six-speed transmission along with a few other refreshed items. But is it enough to keep the Silverado at the top of the heap?

2009 Cadillac CTS-V

2009 Cadillac CTS-V
When Cadillac set out to build the second generation CTS-V they used the BMW M5 as a benchmark. After our street and track test we’re convinced this V has set a new standard.

2008 Buick Enclave CXL Review

2008 Buick Enclave CXL Review
During the holiday season last year, I was given the keys to an all-new 2008 Buick Enclave CXL AWD. While I felt a bit like Santa Claus driving around town in this shiny red jewel, me and mine really enjoyed experiencing the affordable luxury it offered.
